When the sun comes out, the sunsuits go on

July 24th, 2012

We’ve just come back from holiday where we were surprised to find that almost all the children were wearing these UV sunsuits. All, that is, apart from ours.

Since our least favourite part of the holiday was attempting to catch the boys and keep them still long enough for proper suncream application (why do they make it so difficult?!), we’ll definitely be joining the crowd and stocking up on sunsuits for our next holiday.

All Banz swimwear has been clinically tested to a rating of UPF 50+ and is available in a range of colours and styles.

Protect your family on the beach

July 19th, 2012

These extremely easy to use sunshades are available in both family and infant sizes and are brilliant for the beach (park, garden, wherever there is sun…).

Remove from the storage bag and they pop up in seconds – no loose poles or ropes to worry about.

Made from a fabric providing excellent sun protection, they’re large enough for children to play in or make a great spot for relaxing with a book.

The sun’ll come out tomorrow!

September 27th, 2011

Apparently tomorrow is going to be a ridiculously hot day. Not just hot for September-almost-October, but pretty darn hot for any day of the year.

It’s a bit annoying since we’ve tidied away all the summer clothes and thrown the suncream in the bin, but it’s hard to complain about a surprise nice day at this point in the year.

Are you looking forward to this apparent burst of good weather? Or were you happily enjoying Autumn?

Our Three Top Summer Buys

July 26th, 2011

Summer holidays are here and the sun is actually shining, so we’ve picked our Top 3 favourite summer products for you.

A sun hat is one of the most important things you can buy for children and this sun hat from Kidz Banz has UPF 50 sun protection.

It’s easy to lose track of possessions while travelling, but with the Infotag marking tags you can label everything from clothes and shoes to toys. The material will withstand both the rough treatment of children and the washing machine. You just write on the tag with a regular ball point-pen and then glue or iron the sticker on to the item you want to tag.

Goldbug’s Harness Buddy is a crowd pleaser for parents and toddlers alike! The Harness Buddy is a cute way to keep kids safe in public places, functioning both as a harness and backpack. The safety strap adjusts as your child grows. The buckle allows easy on-off access meaning that it can be used as a regular backpack when the rein is not required while the connection strap remains securely attached when being used as a harness. The long, 5-foot tail allows your little adventurer to move about while still under parents’ control.

Be sun safe on the long weekends

April 21st, 2011

If it’s anything like previous years, the glorious weather we’ve been enjoying is likely to come screeching to a halt for the Bank Holiday weekend, but if Easter’s a washout, perhaps the Wedding Weekend will be better?

Either way, here are our Top 3 products for safely enjoying the sun… whenever we may see it.

These Baby Banz legionnaire hats are made in Australia and offer excellent UPF50+ protection. They’re supplied with ties for a secure fit and the smallest hat size has an elasticated chin strap.

The Baby Banz one piece suits come with a zipper for convenient changes and is also available in pink and orange.

These extremely easy to use sun shades are available in family, junior and infant sizes. Remove from their bag and they pop up in seconds – no loose poles or ropes to worry about. Made from a fabric providing excellent sun protection, they’re easy to pack, making them ideal for holiday, picnics on the beach and fun in the garden.

And don’t forget, we’re offering 10% off Babybanz until the end of April 2011.

Family members fail on parenting pointers

March 29th, 2011

Baby Banz Blue Boys 2 Piece Sunsuit

According to a survey by parenting website Netmums, many new parents are bombarded with contradictory and sometimes even dangerous parenting advice by family members.

Forty per cent of the mothers surveyed said a relative had given advice they felt could harm their baby’s health, with mothers-in-law being the worst culprits.

Examples included exposing a baby to hot tarmac fumes to “strengthen its lungs”, and “under ones don’t need sun cream because they can’t get sunburnt”.

Have you been given bad baby advice by a family member? Tell us in the comments.

Classic girls’ swimsuit makes me feel nostalgic

March 24th, 2011

Honestly, how cute is this swimsuit? Makes me think of Milly Molly Mandy and British seaside holidays. Also, the sun’s shining!

The red lycra body is trimmed with cotton gingham and the anchor button detail adds a charming finishing touch.

Co-ordinating gingham sun hat and red towelling products are also available.

Plus it comes in sizes from 18 months to 12 years. Adorable.

Beat the weather with a Buggy Brolly

December 30th, 2010

So the snow has gone… and the rain is back. I’m not sure which I like the least (although I’m not keen on sun either, so there’s no pleasing me).

And rain is even more of a pain when you’re pushing a buggy, which is where the Buggy Brolly comes in. Simple and easy to use, it’s been designed to fit most buggies/prams and simply attaches to the arm of the buggy. And since it also features a UV coating, the umbrella can be used as a sunshade during the hot summer months. You know, if we get any hot summer months.

National Family Week

June 3rd, 2010

LazyTown Sportacus Sunglasses

As we’ve previously mentioned, this week is National Family Week and this Saturday, 5 June, is the National Family Week Sports Day.

There are numerous events running across the UK, including an attempt to break the world record for the largest three-legged race. Even if you can’t make it to an organised event, you can arrange a family sports day of your own.

Frisbee, rounders, egg and spoon – there are plenty of sporting “events” that require little organisation and little or no money. Even a game of Duck, Duck, Goose can be highly entertaining, particularly with little ones. What are your favourite family sporting activities? Let us know in the comments.

Just keep swimming…

Baby Banz Blue Sunsuit

The sun has been shining. And so our thoughts have turned to holidays. And therefore swimming. I haven’t taken my 14-month-old swimming yet. Partly because I’m lazy and partly because I haven’t yet bought him a swimsuit (also because I’m lazy).

I love these Baby Banz Sunsuits. Not only are they excellent for swimming, they also offer UV protection, so they’re handy on holidays too. Although we’re heading to the North East of England this year, so we may not need to worry about sunshine…
